Option 1 is our LEED Platinum Design. Not only is this design option our personal favorite, but this would make Harbert the first building in the state of Alabama to achieve LEED Platinum, matching the Gorrie Center, which was the first to achieve LEED Gold in the state. For this design, our team has imple-mented a green roof through the use of selective demolition in our existing roof and wall. This green roof gives the Harbert Engineering Center a level of attraction that our team just loves. Not only do we love the design, but this option runs under the max budget, schedule, and is the first building in the state to achieve LEED Platinum. As civil engineering students at Auburn University, we all agreed that an outdoor study space would be the perfect idea, but it took some brainstorming to find a way to implement all of this extra space into what we felt would create the best possible impact onto the building.
