Geophone Testing.jpg

As a part-time geotechnical research assistant, I worked with Dr. Jack Montgomery over the summer at Auburn University.  The research that was conducted involved using a transducer which was strapped around a concrete column bridge support in an attempt to determine the depth it ran in the ground due to the constant unknown depth of these concrete piles in the real world. This was done using a code written in Python which used accelerometers to read the amplitude that the transducer was creating.  We also performed seismograph testing through the use of geophones and a sledge hammer with a metal plate in order to take a better look at the reflected and refracted seismic waves.
